Gary Farrow: Kickin' Ass and Takin' Names!

Wow, Gary Farrow is on a roll! We've talked about his accomplishments in recent jiu jitsu tournaments, where he's medaled each time. And on April 30th, he took it to the next level in his first amateur fight! And as we all knew he would, Gary came home victorious!

Gary Farrow FTW!

Gary's fight was held at the Omni in VA Beach, and was sponsored by Frank Lipoli. Gary's opponent was Scott Cox, who had a record of 2-3 and now, thanks to Gary, is 2-4.

Gary's been training hard, as always, and it showed in this fight. The match was slated to be threee three-minute rounds. Scott came out hard with a fierce stand up game that no one was expecting and Gary ended up on the ground after a strong blow to the head. But unbeknownst to Scoot, the ground is Gary's home. After a brief struggle where Gary clearly showed dominance, Scott succumbed to a wicked armbar with literally one second left in the first round.

Quality KnuckleUp Training

It goes without saying that hard work and persistent training pay off. Morrison was probably just as excited as Gary for his victory, and is as proud of Gary as any trainer could be. Morrison had complete faith in Gary's abilities, and knew he would come home a winner.

So what comes next for Gary? We're all looking forward to his next fight, and there'll be plenty more jiu jitsu tournaments in the coming year. And no matter what the future holds, Gary is still training as hard as ever and still teaching fitness classes on the Outer Banks. So come up and train with a winner!

Fight Results For The AFL VII In Elizabeth City Are In!

Alright, what a great event we had on Saturday!

Again, packed house - people that came in late were watching the fight standing, because all of the seats were taken.

The National Guard Armory held well over 500 people, and there was no disappointment that evening.

We had amazing fights, including Billy's and Gina's, who both fought tremendously well.

Since I couldnt find the official results, I'm just going to post the videos here. Enjoy!

Jonathan Thomas VS Jason Ramos

Zed Mitchel VS Josh Mundem The best fight of the night!

Jamie Pickett VS Kelly Wilkins

Nick Morrison VS David Griffin

Christian Brunnetti vs Jason Salvo

Billy Frezza vs Stephen Henkel

Gina Elko vs Ashley Nee (the longest battle of the night - Ashley won by a tough split decision)

The last fight of the night, Wayne Hunter VS Mike Kellar, was withdrawn from YouTube due to copyright issues. It is beyond me to explain how a $300,000 UFC fight can be found all over the net but an amateur competition decides to pull copyright tricks.

But Wayne lost, unfortunately. He showed greatly improved skills on the ground, including a nice sweep from the half guard, and two escapes from tight Kimura (Americana) locks.

Ironic, huh?

Big CONGRATULATIONS to Billy and Gina for stepping up and putting on two great fights. We all look forward to seeing you on the next one.
