KnuckleUp Fitness Beginner Bootcamp Starts March 2nd!

Beginner Fitness Bootcamp

Beginner Fitness Bootcamp starts March 2nd

KnuckleUp OBX Head Instructor Matt Costa has put together a beginner version of his famous fitness bootcamp and spots are going by faster than we expected.

Matt's bootcamp has produced a series of marathon-level athletes, changed the way students see themselves, and burned well over 1000lbs over the past 12 months alone. Most of these students have been together since the first edition, which rose the level of difficulty at each new bootcamp edition.

This time, Matt created a brand new program, geared towards those who are looking to take their training to the next level, but havent yet gotten to the point of running marathons.

According to him, this edition is for students that are looking to lose those last few pounds before swimsuit season starts, or that have hit a plateau in their training and are looking for the next challenge.

The program, unlike past bootcamp editions, will run for 6 weeks, and starts on March 2nd.

Here are the details:

Start Date: Tuesday, March 2nd RAIN OR SHINE!
Sessions: Tuesdays & Thursdays
Time: 5:30-6:45am

KnuckleUp Running Team Dominates Valentines Race In Manteo

running club outer banks valentines race

Franco/Farmer team got the bronze medal

While most of us were busy worrying about what to buy to our loved ones, over 100 competitors gathered in Downtown Manteo to participate in the Sweetheart 8K Race this Valentines Day weekend.

The race covered approximately 5 miles, and the temperature sure didnt help. In the freezing cold, with wind blowing and flakes of  snow starting to fall, KnuckleUp Bootcampers put their hard training to test and came out extremely successful.

This run took them through “romantic” downtown Manteo and benefited The Dare County Food Pantry at Mt. Olivet Church.

Here are Team KnuckleUp's results:

  • Jay Bowman - 1st Place.
  • Shelley Tolbert and Cheryl Wiggins - 2nd Place.
  • Team Matt Costa and Ariadna Vucinovic - 2nd Place.
  • Team Kathy Farmer and Franco Mineo - 3rd Place.

Come join Matt and KnuckleUp in the Winter Bootcamp and lose those Holiday Lbs!

Bootcamp lead instructor Matt Costa just released the official dates for the Winter Fitness Bootcamp.

Here are the dates:

Winter Bootcamp Starts: December 29th

Time: Tuesdays - 5:30am till 7am

Thursdays - 5:45am till 7am

Bootcamp Ends: February 11th, 2010

Matt's bootcamp training has created the most impressive results in each one of its participants. Almost all of the bootcampers completed the Outer Banks 1/2 Marathon in close to 2 hours - Reverend Jay Bowman actually ran the full marathon.

But the most impressive results came Monday, less than 48hours after the Marathon was finished: the entire class showed up for class without whining - they were ready for more!

The bootcamp is now famous for not only getting people in shape, but incorporating fitness and well being into their daily lives.

Come join us on December 29th - space is limited, so sign up now:

KnuckleUp Team Rocked The Outer Banks Marathon

Part of KnuckleUp Team @ The Outer Banks Marathon - Only Winners!

Part of KnuckleUp Team @ The Outer Banks Marathon - Only Winners!

This past Sunday, November 9th, the Outer Banks hosted their famous Marathon - and of course, the KnuckleUp Team was there to completely dominate the event! (just like they did at the Kitty Hawk Heritage Day 5k race)

According to Matt Costa, our fitness bootcamp instructor, who ran the 1/2 marathon well under 2 hours, bootcamp students were able to finish the Marathon with ease... So much so that they were all back in the gym on Monday morning!

In this group of super-fit students were Shelley Tolbert, Courtney Wisecarver, Karly Wood, Kathy Farmer, and Franco Mineo, just to name a few. These winners all finished the 13 1/2 miles in the 2 hour mark - Congratulations everybody!

But we can not forget one of the super stars on the team: the fittest minister on the East Coast, Jay Bowman. Jay ran the full marathon (26+ miles) and took it as a "training session". Here's what Jay said about it:

"so it ended up being a marathon I used as a training run for a 50k race in Virginia Beach on december 19th. anyone interested in a challenge on trails?"

Huge Congratulations to Matt, Jay, Shelley, Karly, Kathy, Franco, Courtney, and everybody that ran on Sunday - we're very proud of you!

KnuckleUp Team Dominates Kitty Hawk Heritage Day 5k Race

The KnuckleUp Team Of Winners!

The KnuckleUp Team Of Winners!

This past Saturday, before the fights started, a group of good-looking KnuckleUp students headed over to the Wright Memorial bridge to participate in the celebration of the 9th Annual Kitty Hawk Heritage Day festival.

The main event, a 5K race, was a walk in the park for these beach bootcamp graduates, so they had plenty of time to shoot some pictures and even put some videos together for us.

We want to congratulate everybody for their efforts, and celebrate another win with you!

It's no surprise they did so well in the race - under Matt's military training they run well over 5k at least twice a week. Actually, it's more like 7 MILES twice a week.

A big thanks for Rev. Jay Bowman for putting this awesome video together:
